Observe with your own eyes the wonders of the universe. From our observatory you can actually see gaseous nebulae, dense star clusters sparkling like diamonds, scores of galaxies beyond our own Milky Way Galaxy, the captivating rings of Saturn, Jupiter's cloud belts and its moons, and much, much more. Marvel at the wonders of the Orion Nebula, a star nursery, or the Owl Cluster, or the breathtaking extra-ordinary views of the star clouds of the Milky Way. Enjoy a romantic evening under the stars and relax in the cool, crisp evening while viewing the universe through our powerful telescopes and binoculars. Imagine the beauty of the Honolulu City lights sparkling in the background with the moon rising over the Koolau Mountains. A personal guided tour of all these sights is the most pleasurable way of enjoying the wonders of the night sky. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| YOUR night starts by revisiting some of our popular constellations. Did you know that the Big Dipper is not in itself, a constellation but, a major part of a large constellation called Ursa MAjor, or the "Big Bear"? Astrological signs and the art of Polynesian navigation in the Pacific Ocean also originated from the star patterns. You can learn the basics of Polynesian navigation by learning the star patterns in the constellations. OUR guided tours are kept to small groups to insure individual attention and maximum time at each of the telescopes and binoculars. The observatory uses state-of-the-art optics powered by precision robotic motors commanded by two on-board computers. If you prefer, you can be in the "driver's seat" when you take command of the telescope to navigate to one of the thousands of 'deep sky' objects. Click the computer mouse to display an image of the nebula you have just guided the scope to! No other observatory in the State of Hawaii offers you personal tours, comfortable weather, light refreshments, and all the comforts of home, only minutes from Waikiki. |
